I hope this message finds everyone well and staying warm.

This year's Grand Lodge session promises to be a great weekend of events as we celebrate the 50th Anniversary of our Masonic Medical Research Laboratory and the 227th Annual Communication of our Grand Lodge.

The Convention Committee has worked very hard to arrange for more rooms at the headquarters hotel and the Marriott Hotel across the street, in East Elmhurst, Queens. They have arranged for a rate of $149.00 per night per ROOM and because the Masonic Medical Research Laboratory is hosting the celebration and the Communication, you will only have to pay $3.50 per ROOM per night in additional fees. The rooms are all double occupancy.

New York State Fair opens today in Syracuse.

Check your calendar for the dates you have committed to help this year at the Great NYS Fair. Take a minute and call one of the chairmen and remind them you will be there to meet your obligation. If you haven’t signed up to help call Joe Stevens or Kevin Parker for a time slot.

The relationship with FASNYCHIP is growing as the understanding between the Masons and the members of the fire departments become clearer . There is something within the Child Identification Program for everyone, Masons, non Masons, Volunteer and/or paid Fire Fighters in their free time.

Today, August 17, 2008, marked the end of the Fair. Today, 313 children were processed giving us a grand total of 2836. 157 were processed in our building and 156 in the Firemen's Building. 2095 were processed in our building and 743 in the Firemen's Building. Bear in mind we were only in the firemens' Building from Mon Aug 11 to Sun Aug 17. We were not there the first 5 days. A special 'Thank You' goes out to W:. Larry Persinger whose diligence and perseverance played a tremendous part in getting us in the Firemen's Building.

Another great day at the Erie County Fair, 354 Children were processed today.

Saturday August 16, 2008

Regional Chairman Ed Miller report's; today at the Erie County Fair, Masons with help of volunteers processed 145 Children at the Fireman's Building and 209 Children in the 4-H building for an outstanding total of 354 children.

Records could fall today at the Erie County Fair. Volunteer today and tomorrow and be part of the record breaking team.

According to Regional Chairman Edward Miller, the Masons processed another 294 Children today. That includes 164 at our building and 130 at the Firemen's Building. We now have 2169 total including 440 that have participated in the program located in Firemen's Building.

We have already beaten last year’s numbers and, with decent weather, we should easily go well beyond 2400.

All Volunteers, Masons-Non Masons and Firefighters, remember team work is the only answer. Thanks for being on our team.

Masonic Child Identification Program in the NEWS

TV Channel 4 is scheduled to interview our Grand Master M.·. W.·. Edward G. Gilbert today in the Firemen's Building on the Fair Grounds about his community service project, the Masonic Child Identification Program.

Yesterday Regional Chairman Edward Miller was intereviewed by local cable channel 10. That recorded interview lasted about 15 minutes according to Miller. The footage included one child being processed from start to finish.

Masons, Fire Fighters and volunteers have processed nearly 1,400 children during this year's Erie County Fair; and we still have 5 days remaining. Make sure your family members, children, grandchildren and neighbors understand the importance of this program.

Team Work between Masons and Fireman net an extra 52 Children.

Rainy weather is hurting the Eric County Fair business. Team work between the Fire Department and the New York State F. & A. M. better know as FASNYCHIP yields an extra 52 children being processed in the Fireman’s Building yesterday.

Working together, we have Child Identification stations at both ends of the Erie County Fair. We are better prepared to provide this community service to give families tools that can and will help the Law Enforcement Agencies respond quickly in the event a child goes missing.

By product’s of the Masonic Child ID Program are membership involvement, membership retention and membership growth. As Chairman of the Child Identification Program I need your help? I would ask every lodge in this jurisdiction to participate in the Child Identification Program. Involvement means, host at least one event even if it’s only a demonstration at your lodge for your members with the participation of one child, a grandchild, family member or neighbor. You say we only meet once a year, great have this as your program. There is something in the Masonic Child Identification Program for everyone, even you! All Masons want to protect Children. You want to save your Lodge for future generations, if not for your son, maybe your grandson. Working together we can accomplish both. Allow the Grand Master’s program, the Child Identification Program, to help you and your community. We are tired but we are very strong, roll up those sleeves; I promise you that I will work just as hard and just as long as you.

Yesterday they processed 192 children. On Friday, there was a surprise visitor, Sparky, the Fire Safety Dog, courtesy of the Hamburg Fire Department.

The committee is ready and prepared to process more children in less time than ever before. They have 10 systems ready and operating. If you plan on visiting the Erie County Fair, please stop by the second floor of the 4-H building and see first hand what can be done with the participation of many.
