Masons to Help Find Children

By RONALD J. STEINER

(Original Publication: May 20, 2005)

In New York state, 21,753 children were reported missing last year, according to statistics from the Division of Criminal Justice Services.

For the last 10 years, the Freemasons in New York have been giving free child video tapes to parents in order to assist law enforcement authorities by providing reliable pictures of how their child walks, talks and looks from several angles.

Fingerprinting the Innocent

Masons' program, with taped interviews, provides law enforcement officials with useful information on children if they go missing!

BY: Mary Beth Casper
(Mary Beth Casper is a freelance writer.)
July 5, 2004

The three 7-year-old girls were on their way to a friend's birthday party, but they had one important stop to make first.

They had to be fingerprinted and questioned.

Were twin sisters Chantal and Brianne Meggett and their friend, Tasha Merchant, in trouble with the law?

Hardly. The Rego Park children have responsible parents who understand the importance of ensuring their safety.
