Grand Lodge Committee on Masonic Benevolence
Written by Patricio Castro
The Committee on Masonic Benevolence was established in 1949, and charged with the responsibility for providing help, aid and comfort to distressed Master Masons, their widows, orphans and families. The Committee is also charged with providing advice on contacting other agencies outside Masonry that might be able to provide additional relief.

Two types of applications are available; a new form for Emergency Aid (Form No. 5A)under the amount of $500.00 and the Application for Aid and Assistance (Form No.5) which requires more detailed information for amounts over $500.00.
It is important to remember that applications that are made must have the support of the applicant’s Lodge. Lodge and District financial participation are also sought. The initial request is made through the applicants Lodge and then forwarded to the Committee Chairman for action, after all requirements for information have been completed.

The Committee is also charged with encouraging the use of the Masonic Care Community in Utica should that type of care be required.
It is our intention to promptly attend to all properly submitted and verifiable requests for aid and assistance.
Please remember, it is necessary for the first contact to be made through the applicants Lodge. Circumventing this procedure only adds to the time it takes to process a request for assistance.
